So, the hiatus hasn’t been entirely unintentional. Nevertheless, the break has officialy ended, and I’m aiming to end it with a flourish. Thirty days from today is Thanksgiving, and just as the finally-cooler weather has settled over the valley, it seems as appropriate a time as any to kickoff the beginning of my favorite time of year with a 30-day writing challenge. The themes of each entry over the next 30 days will be gratitude and inspiration. During my summer break, I looked over the whole of the articles I posted during the first year of this little blog. While I am, for the most part, pleased with the way each article turned out, and with the messages encouraging deeper thinking, higher striving, and the occasional witty musing, it was also apparent that whatever optimism I wanted to impart was often buried under any number of treatises that often approached rants. Well, to be certain, the rants won’t go away entirely, but I can do better than that. The other thing that caught my attention is that there were only 12 articles written the first year: partly a function of priority and partly a function of discipline. Either way, I can do better than that too.
In an effort to continue to pursue my next better self, I am envoking gratitude and inspiration in one article, each day, for the next 30 days. While trying to avoid anything too predictible or schmaltzy, each day from now until Thanksgiving will bring with it a gesture of gratitude or artifact of inspiration that, hopefully, will encourage you to share the moments of gratitude and inspiration in your lives as well.
I’m looking forward to writing everyday – even if it seems a bit daunting right now…and I appreciate your taking the time to read it, whether you’re one reader, or one thousand.
So, appropriately, I’ll end day 1 by simply saying…
thanks.
